Global Network for Biblical Counseling
Pastor Flavio, serving faithfully near Sao Paulo, Brazil, had just told me how his life and ministry had been transformed twenty years earlier.
Bill Goode, NANC’s Executive Director at the time, and Dr. Bob Smith, a NANC Board member, had taught a series of classes on biblical counseling, pastoral ministry and church life.
He left determined to be a pastor who equips his flock to solve problems biblically, using God’s sufficient Word.
This was a big change for a man who had been trained to refer and defer counseling!
Today Pastor Flavio is a respected pastor and the President of the Association of Biblical Counselors of Brazil. This organization has been modeled after NANC. At their first annual conference in June 2007 was attended by over 150 pastors, missionaries and key laymen. They listened well and asked insightful questions. They showed an intense desire to learn how to minister God’s Word skillfully to hurting people.
Pastor Flavio’s two questions I couldn’t answer were:
- What biblical counseling materials that you recommend have been translated into Portuguese?
- When are other NANC certified counselors coming to Brazil to teach?
NANC’s international impact is increasing significantly. This year NANC members lived and served in Brazil, Canada, Germany, Peru, Ukraine, Mexico, Australia, Puerto Rico, Spain, and South Africa. In addition, many NANC members regularly travel internationally to provide instruction on biblical counseling topics. The result is that people around the world are increasingly turning to NANC for guidance regarding training formats, curricula, resources and certification requirements.
That means that the same two questions are being asked by numerous people from countries all over the world. In response, we have created the Global Network which covers these three areas:
- Resources: a listing of biblical counseling books, pamphlets, DVDs , and CDs available in languages other than English
- Events: a listing of biblical counseling courses or speaking engagements in countries other than the US
- Ministries: a listing of NANC-friendly schools and contacts in countries other than the US
